2016 EUROPEAN HERITAGE CONGRESS
This week, the European Heritage Congress is being held in Madrid. This important event brings together experts from 31 countries in a conference that includes the granting of the European Union Award for Cultural Heritage / Europa Nostra Awards, 2016.
At the conference this morning, the 2016 award candidates were presented. In two parallel sessions held at the headquarters of the College of Architects in Madrid, a total of 28 proposals were presented from the four recognized categories.
The category of conservation is notable for the diversity of the proposals. The twelve projects presented are from eight different European Union countries and each have different approaches and responses, scales and types of cultural heritage. The projects are notable for the values distinguished by this recognition, such as excellence, repercussion, sustainability or their implication on society.
This evening, at the Zarzuela Theatre, the awards will be given. Ramon Mayo, president of Kalam, will receive a special mention in the category of Dedication to Heritage.
