This Park is located in Lota, in the Bío Region. Designed between 1862 and 1872, it is the only French style building located on the coast and was declared a National Monument in the category of Historic Monument in 2009. Of all the old buildings, the Meteorological Observatory and the Tropical Plants Conservatory are the only conserved, and have been the object of a Kalam’s comprehensive intervention. Due to the damages sustained by earthquakes and weather conditions, it has been necessary to recover and stabilize the damaged structures in risk of collapse. The Meteorological Observatory has been completely dismantled, restoring woodwork and ornamental elements. In the Conservatory, the intervention has been carried out while all tree species located inside the building; so the replacement of structures, glass and ornaments, has been done with great care so as not to damage existing species and to recover the original design and functionality. Kalam’s experts and craftsmen guarantee that the intervention criteria are in accordance with the characteristics offered by both properties, allowing to highlight the original architectural values, as well as improving their construction techniques.
