Galia Theatre, Lanco, Chile

Property erected entirely with wood between 1943 and 1945 with Art Deco influences, built with the balloon frame system. After several years in disuse, Kalam has begun working under a city initiative, to restore and re-value the site and rehabilitate the property to provide a home for communal artistic expressions. The work includes integrated pest management and general stabilization of the structure, including the replacement of the lower section of the foundation studs affected by persistent moisture. The musealization of the movie theatre; the recovery of its mural paintings (located on both sides of the proscenium), seats with original metal supports and simple ornamental wood veneers; together with the construction of a new addition to house exhibition spaces, will return its use, dignity and beauty to the building.

KALAM, within the framework of the ICEX Next Program, has received support from ICEX and co-financing from the European Regional Development Fund. The purpose of this support is to contribute to the international development of the company.
