The Loire Valley between Sully-sur-Loire and Chalonnes, France

The Loire Valley between Sully-sur-Loire and Chalonnes, declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2000

The Loire Valley has an extraordinarily beautiful cultural landscape, with its historic cities and towns, grandiose castles and palaces with unique architectural exuberance, and a showcase of cultivated lands that have coexisted for years between urban centres and the characteristics of the landscape itself, such as the Loire River.

Kalam’s team has worked on numerous and varied types of monuments in the area. The comprehensive restoration of the slate roofs and copper and lead works, and the work on the ornamental elements in the Chenonceau Castle; or the repair of the slate roof with interspersed Gothic pinnacles on the Castle of Saumur. Also in the city of Saumur, Kalam worked on the roof of the magnificent Theater in Saumur, and on the Church of Saint Pierre, repairing its limestone facades, typical of the region. In the city of Fontevraud, Kalam performed a comprehensive rehabilitation of the roofs and waterproofing systems of lead and zinc, and the downspouts of the buildings surrounding the courtyard of honour of the Royal Abbey.
