Barajas Area, Colonia Iberia, Madrid, Spain

KALAM intervenes in the area of the Colonia Nuestra Señora de Loreto, designed by architect Fernando Montes Rodríguez. This colony, designed in 1949, was originally intended for workers of the Iberia company. Its architecture corresponds to the time of its construction and, therefore, to the aesthetic and constructive criteria established after the Civil War for official buildings. The work carried out consisted of the restoration and refurbishment of facades and roofs, installing an Exterior Thermal Insulation System (SATE), as well as the sanitation networks. Specifically in this building, the adaptation of the common courtyard was also carried out, replacing the flooring and improving the accesses to it from both the interior and the exterior.
