We have been fortunate enough to take part in the restoration of hundreds of buildings in our historic town centers. A portfolio of references including over 40 interventions on World Heritage buildings, ensembles, and landscapes.

We have been distinguished with various honors over our company’s history.

We may highlight recognitions of our work in the Europa Nostra awards, with a special mention in 2016 in the Dedicated Service to Heritage category, and in 2018 in the Conservation category, through which the international jury honored our team’s excellent restoration of the facade of the College of San Ildefonso at the University of Alcalá de Henares, highlighting the sensitive recovery of the historical patina on the stonework. We have also received awards linked to environmental protection and worksite safety.

We have the highest company rating in the field of restoration of historic and artistic heritage and ornamentation as well as in all other subcategories of construction in Spain, Portugal, Chile, and other countries we work in.

As part of our commitment to excellence, we were the first in the sector to implement health & safety, quality, and organizational management systems in accordance with company policy and the standards ISO 14001-2015 (Environmental Management), ISO 9001-2015 (Quality), and ISO 45001-2018 (Health & Safety Management).

Training

KALAM’s Craft Trade School – EOAK – is geared to in-house practitioners and their professional growth through a continuous training and skills upgrade program and to external pupils through agreements entered into with universities and restoration and trade schools.

Through EOAK we also organize talks and workshops aimed at postgraduates, fine arts graduates, restorers, and architects on heritage restoration practice and historic building refurbishment. With this initiative we seek to preserve traditional trades and techniques, a key aspect in the proper conservation of historic buildings.

We see working in the field of art and cultural property, in which we have accumulated a wealth of experience, as a privilege.

We regularly produce special publications so as to share subjects of interest with heritage stewards and architects; we sponsor, coordinate, and take part in technical workshops and seminars through which we disseminate our know-how; we conduct research projects and engage in initiatives linked to cultural heritage in the academic, institutional, and civil-society spheres.
