Almeria Cathedral, Spain

This cathedral, episcopal see of the diocese of Almería, is a magnificent example of the transition from late Gothic to Renaissance in 16th-century Spain. Also known as the Cathedral of the Incarnation, it was built from 1522 after the fateful earthquake that devastated Almeria, under the direction of Juan of Orea. Our work was commissioned by the Culture Ministry through the Spanish Historic Heritage Institute. The rectangular Neoclassical cloister, consisting of a courtyard and four galleries, was fully restored, with consolidation of wall surfaces, vaults, and stone ornaments. The courtyard was weatherproofed and paved and finally the roofs were restored.
