Ciutadella Barcelona Hotel, Barcelona, Spain

Restoration of the facades, courtyards, and lobby of this hotel building in Barcelona’s Ciutat Vella. Stucco and natural stone wall surfaces were restored and the stone of balcony decks was cleaned and weatherproofed on the upper side, as was that of the cornice. In the central courtyard, moldings lost in previous work were reproduced and the walls were repainted with the original chiaroscuro coloring. In the lobby the entrance was fully stripped and revarnished with restoration stain where required, and the interior walls and ceiling were painted and their moldings highlighted with aged silver leaf and glaze.
