Hotel en Bajada del Pozo Amargo, Toledo, Spain
Comprehensive rehabilitation in the World Heritage historic center of Toledo of various listed buildings for use as a four-star hotel, with 67 rooms and a spa. Our interdisciplinary team undertook the necessary excavations, recovering cisterns buried by backfill, with underpinning of foundations and structural consolidation (most notably of the building’s vaults), along with concreting, metalwork, and laminated woodwork throughout the ensemble, including in the building envelope. The scope of our work also included shoring, salvaging, cataloguing, and conservation of historic elements, and bracing of facades to allow installation work to proceed safely and with the necessary rigor and control, along with finishing tasks to allow the hotel to start operating.
