Ritz Hotel, Madrid, Spain
Restoration of the facades of this landmark building built in 1908 by the English hotel company Ritz Development on the site of the former Tivoli Theater and Hipódromo Circus. This was a sensitive and rigorous intervention led by Rafael de la Hoz, respecting the building’s original character and materials. The plaster walls were restored with a smooth washed finish with horizontal segmenting and vertical panels in keeping with the facade composition. Plaster features such as corbels, belt courses, and the crown of the tower were restored, along with stone parts such as gutters and balustrades, with appropriate techniques applied by our restorers, supported by our architectural reproduction workshop. Our logistics department deployed a great array of resources to meet the hotel’s tight deadlines without interrupting its operation and minimizing inconvenience to customers.
