Mudéjar Tower of San Miguel, Toledo, Spain

The Church of San Miguel el Alto was built in the 12th century in Mudéjar style and reworked in the 17th century, introducing aesthetic traits of the Baroque. This slender campanile modeled on the minarets of Muslim mosques is preserved from the original period, with a stone base, a masonry body, and twin openings with Muslim profiles for bells at the top. For the Toledo Heritage Consortium we cleaned, consolidated, and repointed the exterior and interior walls, replacing damaged pieces, as well as renewing the lighting and restoring the steps. We also rebuilt the belfry roof and restored the bells, and finally defined and surfaced the building’s accessways.
