National Archaeological Museum, Madrid, Spain

KALAM performed a series of emergency tasks on the facade of this 1866 building housing the National Archaeological Museum, with a double colonnade and a pair of sphinxes facing Madrid’s Calle Serrano. We reinforced parts with fiberglass bars and epoxy resins, sealed cracks, and consolidated damaged elements under the supervision of the Culture Ministry and the Spanish Cultural Heritage Institute. We also worked on the Patio de la Virgen and Patio Grande courtyards, cleaning, restoring stone and traditional renders, and cleansing marble and limestone decorative features in the staircase of this monumental building declared a cultural heritage asset in 1983.
