Paseo de la Castellana 4, Madrid, Spain

Restoration of the facades of this landmark building that was originally the headquarters of IBM in Madrid, designed by the architect Miguel Fisac. Its characteristic prefabricated concrete profiles showed advanced carbonation and large pieces were at risk of coming loose. The bracing of over 1,500 m² of floor slabs was reinforced, volumes were restored with thixotropic repair mortars once the reinforcement had been passivated, and anti-carbonation coating was applied throughout. Finally we installed composite false ceilings in place of the existing plaster ceilings and demolished the flat roof of the attic so as to install a TPO waterproof membrane with permeable paving.
