This is a residential and commercial building, in which the architectural and engineering proposal foresaw the adaptation of the building’s structure, maintaining some of its interior features, such as the existing staircase and a careful maintenance of its elevations, without modifying its volumetry and maintaining all the original features of the building, down to the smallest detail. The structural reinforcement of the building guarantees compliance with current legislation in terms of safety and resistance to seismic forces, accessibility, comfort and efficient management of energy consumption. The use of traditional and domestically produced materials to maintain the original characteristics of the Pombaline building was also part of this work programme.
