Santa Justa Church, Toledo, Spain

This church, dedicated to Saints Justa and Rufina, is one of Toledo’s Mozarabic places of worship, i.e. designed for the Catholic Hispano-Mozarabic liturgical rite. Although there is evidence of its existence as of the 12th century, it was in the 16th and 17th centuries that it fully developed. It has a wide nave with a polygonal apse and a timber-framed roof. In this church declared a cultural heritage asset in 1998 our project involved restoring the premises of the Brotherhood of Holy Charity. Supervised by the city’s Heritage Consortium, the tasks included the renovation and comprehensive restoration of various areas, notably including major work on walls, Mudéjar and other ceilings, and mural paintings.
