Matesanz House, Madrid, Spain

Unmissable 20th-century architecture such as Gran Vía 27, with design influenced by the Chicago School, needs to be rehabilitated with proper techniques and by suitable restorers, for in its facades, nooks, and crannies we find unique features created by the great architect Antonio Palcios along with the master craftsmen he would work with. Our upgrade involved structural reinforcements and new distributions, inter alia, while the building’s original decoration and functionality were restored, notably including a restoration of the original curved glass of its fine bay windows that were destroyed during the Civil War and subsequently replaced by smaller flat windows. In a second phase the owner entrusted us this time with adapting the building to fire regulations, with installation of special LED lighting, and renewing the look of the interiors with floor signage, polishing of marble flooring and stairs, painting, and installation of a new reception counter.
